Programs & Classes

At FAMC, we provide the community with many classes, programs and events that emphasize good health. These include tobacco cessation, Cancer Support Group, CPR/First Aid Classes, free blood pressure monitoring, fitness classes, and more. You’ll often see our facility partner with SDSU Extension to provide programs that would not otherwise be available in our area. Our list of available classes changes frequently, so watch our social media pages for updates or call 605-598-6262.

Rehabilitation Services

We offer inpatient rehabilitation, a swing bed program, cardiac rehabilitation, and outpatient physical, speech, and occupational therapy. Our rehab therapy department is furnished with the newest equipment available, thanks to gifts given to the Foundation.

Lab & X-Ray

The Faulkton Area Medical Center Laboratory is available 24 hours, 7 days a week to meet clinic and hospital needs. We have state–of–the–art analyzers along with highly qualified team members to assist you and your provider with your healthcare needs. Laboratory tests performed in our facility are:

  • Chemistry-tests for liver function, kidney function, heart issues, diabetes, inflammation, gout

  • Hematology-tests for anemia, infection

FAMC Laboratory also utilizes the Avera Laboratory Network for specialized testing not performed in-house.

Preparing for your tests will give you and your provider the most accurate results. Make sure you talk to your provider and tell them all the medications you are taking. This includes prescribed medications and over-the-counter medication, vitamins, and supplements as these could interfere with results. Ask your provider how to prepare for your tests. You may have to fast, not take certain medications, or be drawn at a certain time. If you have not followed your provider’s instructions, please notify staff.

Telemedicine

Telemedicine

Telemedicine makes it possible for patient clinic visits with several specialty physicians located elsewhere.

Telehealth, often times called telemedicine, will allow your healthcare provider to care for you without an in-person office visit. Telemedicine appointments work by virtually connecting you to a healthcare provider. This occurs with a secure video platform in the comfort of your hometown hospital.

The Faulkton Area Medical Center participates using equipment from Avera providing updated Tytocare technology that is able to transfer information between facilities via an electronic stethoscope, electronic otoscope, and camera. This equipment is state of the art, and we have it all at FAMC!

Patient visits via telemedicine with a specialty provider offer convenience, allow for saved expenses in cost and time traveled, and are less stressful for patients.

If you are interested in a telemedicine clinic visit, please talk to your healthcare provider.
