How are you doing keeping your New Years’ resolutions?  Are you on your way to a better, healthier you?  There are many free resources available to residents of South Dakota that can help encourage you to continue to stay active and improve the health of you and your families.  A few of the resources are immediately accessible! All website addresses are current and accessed as of 3/6/21.  

Healthy SD website, http://www.healthysd.gov/, has recipes, food and activity trackers, and weight and health management tips for all age groups.   SD has a stop smoking quitline, 1-888-SD-QUITS (http://sdquitline.com/) for anyone who requires assistance with stopping tobacco.  SD Game, Fish, and Parks (https://gfpga.sd.gov/outdoor-learning/passport-challenge.aspx) has a Fitness Passport challenge, in which you can earn prizes for visiting any state park and participate in a healthy activity, such as hiking, rock climbing, snowshoeing, birding, swimming, cross-country skiing, hunting or fishing.   

Family Health-related services available through the SD Dept. of Health, https://doh.sd.gov/family/, include those that you can access locally through the Community Health Nurse or a Medical Clinic.  They include:  All women count (breast and cervical cancer screening); Family Planning; Baby Care and Immunizations; Newborn Hearing and Metabolic Screening; Oral Health; School Health; and WIC (nutrition for Women, Infants and Children).
